February 1966

2nd February – The Pittsburgh Press has another ‘socialite’ gossip column discussing Warhol, Edie Sedgwick and of course, the Velvet Underground.

There is an unusual reference to the owner of the Phone Booth ‘signing’ up the band, which coincides with Warhol’s ‘sponsorship’.

March 1966

3rd March, Newsday reports on a preview of the film ‘Dear John’, most notably the guests – including Warhol, Ingrid Superstar and Edie Sedgwick. The Velvet Underground are described here as ‘A British Rock And Roll SIngers’

16th March

The Los Angeles Times has a report on Jane Holzer, intriguingly referencing her ‘cutting her first record, singing before the group, the Velvet Underground’, a group in which Warhol was ‘interested’.

25th March

Willows Daily Journal discusses a KXIE-TV special on Warhol and Lichtenstein. With an interesting production credit of ‘Additional Music by the Velvet Underground’
