The Village Voice advert ‘”DO YOU WANT TO DANCE AND BLOW YOUR MIND WITH – THE EXPLODING PLASTIC INEVITABLE”.’

7th April

Andy, Edie, & the Velvet Underground’ Village Voice article.

8th April

The Morning Call report on recent Warhol openings – including one referencing ‘his’ band, the Velvet Underground.

10th April 1966

The Houston Chronicle had an alternative version of the Jane Holzer article.

11th April 1966

New York Times ‘Black Jeans to Go Dancing at the Movies’ – A feature on Warhol’s disco which mostly covered Nico.

13th April 1966

The Bayonne Times had a repeat of The Morning Call’s recent Warhol activities

14th April 1966

Village Voice -Notebook for Night Owls

17th April 1966

The Times Picayune makes mention of the ‘Erupting Plastic Inevitable’ and references the band’ appearing in Life.

20th April 1966 – Life Magazine (released 27th May)

Perhaps the most prominent press yet, the Velvet Underground photographed in an article on discotheques.

22nd April

The Daily Register reports on the Exploding Plastic Inevitable

The Arizona Republic mention the Velvet Underground.

28th April 1966

Barnard_Bulletin has an interesting article on ‘Murray the K’s World’, interesting as it may be one of the first to reference “The Velvet Underground” in relation to something else, a sure sign of early influence.

29th April 1966

Courier Post’s ‘socialite’ column covers the Velvet Underground

And that’s April 1966. A hugely busy – work and press – month for the band.
