January 1968

The month their second album, White Light/White Heat is released.

6th January, Canada’s The Globe and Mail have another drug-scare story. The Velvets are mentioned.

14th January. The Florida Times Union review Chelsea Girl by Nico. The larger world mostly unaware Nico and Warhol are no longer involved in the Velvet Underground.

14th January. Chicago Tribune. Andy Warhol’s Index Book is reviewed with a brief mention of the band.

18th January. Staten Island Advance. ‘Thriving non commercialists, the Velvet underground”

22nd January. The Vancouver Sun. Perhaps the first ‘review’ or eluding to the new album, which would not come out for another week.

31st January. Kitsap Sun has an advert for White Light/White Heat

A quiet month compared to the previous two years. Maybe they would have been better staying with Andy afterall.
